NISD offers trainings in Narrative Therapy practices throughout the year in various formats, including weekend workshops, weekly Professional Development Group (PDG) meetings, semester-long certificate programs, and multi-day conferences. For example, this March 28-30, 2018 NISD is hosting A Narrative Gathering: Building on the Legacy of Michael White – A Decade of Narrative Developments in Coronado, CA. We find that learning together as a community of therapists, health professionals, faculty, supervisors and colleagues has provided for a rich experience that enhances both our personal and professional lives, and invigorates our clinical work.
Additionally, NISD is an approved traineeship site of San Diego State University’s graduate program in Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT). Each June we bring on several 2nd year MFT graduate students through our MFT Residency Program and mentor them in a year-long clinical traineeship which is required for their COAMFTE-approved Master’s degree. Many of our trainees stay on as Registered MFT Interns and complete their clinical training for California state licensure by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
